Platform Petroleum Limited was incorporated in Nigeria in June 2001. The Objects of the Company include Exploration and Production of Oil and Gas in Nigeria.

The Company is the Operator of the Asuokpu/Umutu Marginal Field located in Shell Petroleum Development Company (S.P.D.C.) OML 38 in Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State. The Marginal Field was formerly handed over to Platform Petroleum Limited by S.P.D.C. on 22nd November 2004, with the approval of the Federal Government of Nigeria and later commenced production in August 2007.

Thus in less than three years after taking over the Asuokpu/Umutu Marginal Field, the Company, in conjunction with her Joint Venture Partner (Newcross Petroleum Ltd) both of which are wholly Owned Nigerian Companies, Tested and Completed Two Wells (Umutu 2 & 4), Designed, Constructed, Installed and Commissioned a 10,000bpd Flow station and 48 Kilometres of delivery Pipeline as well as ancillary Facilities.
