Platform makes case for citing of base office
Operators of oil exploration firm, Platform Petroleum Limited explained at an interactive session with stakeholders and host communities at Obinomba, Delta State yesterday that they decided to install their base station at Umutu because they want to have a good relationship with host communities where they operate from and also to nip receptiveness in the bud.

Presenting a paper at the stakeholders’ meeting, which was moderated by Major Bamidele Alabi from Joint Military Task Force Effurun, the company’s Manager in charge of Administration and Finance, Mr. Konyebagu Opute said in the industry today, operators located their base offices outside the areas of operations. That is why all operators in the Western Delta have their offices in Warri, while those operating in the East have their base offices in Port Harcourt; the major reason for this is nearness to service/support contractors.

He however noted that our company not minding the obvious, defiled this norm by sitting our Base office in Umutu and in taking this decision, what was uppermost in our mind what was to be part of you (host community) therefore fear of community restiveness was downplayed.
